Alcoholism Physical Symptom
Alcohol dependence, or better known as alcoholism, is a uncontrollable
dependency that can be compared to the need one has for food or water minus the
common alcoholism physical symptom. It's a disease where the person physical
craving for alcohol overcomes or overpowers their ability to stop drinking. Even
with physical symptoms of advanced alcoholism the physical withdrawal symptoms
occur when an individual stops drinking especially after a very heavy period of
alcohol consumption. Don't get alcoholism confused with alcohol abuse. The
withdrawal symptoms of alcohol abuse are similar to alcoholism but they are by
far different in nature. Alcohol abuse can be in the from of a social drinker
that abuses or over does it during a friends party, the description say it all,
the "abuse" or over indulgence. Were as alcoholism is an addiction, an
uncontrollable, compulsive need to consume alcohol even in the face of
negative social and health related consequences and will experience severe
withdrawal symptoms upon detoxification.
Alcoholism Physical Symptoms and signs may include:
- Withdrawal symptoms which include shakes, anxiety, nausea, and sweating
- Irritability
- A strong craving, need, or compulsion to drink
- The inability or loss of control to limit the amount of drinking during
any occasion
- Tolerance level increases; so greater amounts of alcohol are consumed to
obtain desired level of intoxication
- Strong annoyance if drinking pattern in disrupted or thrown off schedule
- Isolation
- Depression
- The urge to drink to feel normal
- Suicidal thoughts
Alcoholism is not a sign of moral weakness, rather it has been linked to
