Amyloidosis Symptoms
Amyloidosis symptoms depend on the organs affected by the deposits of
insoluble protein fibers. There are a wide range of symptoms which often makes
amyloidosis difficult to diagnose. Amyloidosis symptoms are frequently
associated with heart damage, kidneys damage, liver, spleen, nervous
system and the gastrointestinal tract.
Symptoms of amyloidosis may include:
- weak hand grip
- weight loss
- fatigue
- numbness of hands and feet
- shortness of breath
- swelling of the extremities
- skin changes
- enlarged tongue
- swallowing difficulties
- irregular heart rhythm
Additional amyloidosis symptoms associated with this disease:
- other tongue problems
- weakness
- urine output, decreased
- stools, clay colored
- hoarseness or changing voice
- diarrhea
- joint pain
Call your doctor if you experience symptoms such as difficulty breathing,
persistent swelling of the ankles or other areas, decreased urine output, or
other amyloidosis symptoms occur.
