Symptoms of Anaphylaxis
Symptoms of Anaphylaxis develop rapidly, often within seconds or minutes of
exposure to an allergen. Anaphylaxis is the most dangerous type of allergic
reaction, it's also the least common. It can occur in response from insect bites
or stings, horse serum, used in some vaccines, food allergies, and drug
allergies.
Anaphylaxis Symptoms may include the following:
- Fainting, light-headedness, dizziness
- Hives and generalized itching
- Anxiety
- Sensation of feeling the heart beat (palpitations)
- Nausea, vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Abdominal pain or cramping
- Skin redness
- Difficulty breathing
- Wheezing
- Abnormal, high-pitched breathing sounds
- Confusion
- Slurred speech
- Blueness of the skin (cyanosis), including the lips or nail beds
- Nasal congestion
- Cough
- Rapid or weak pulse
